IBM will end support for IBM Planning Analytics version 2.0.9 and earlier on November 1, 2025. After this date, IBM will no longer provide general support unless extended support is purchased. Additionally, version 2.1.x does not include legacy components such as Architect, Perspectives, TM1 Applications, and Performance Modeler.

Product Lifecycle for IBM Planning Analytics Local 2.0.9

Upgrading to Planning Analytics Local 2.1

Organizations responsible for maintaining Planning Analytics should begin preparing for this transition. It’s important to ensure your planning applications remain secure with the latest updates and that you continue to receive full support from IBM.

As you prepare, know that you have options; IBM will offer extended support that customers can purchase for an additional year, extending the total support period through October 31, 2026. However, we recommend upgrading to version 2.1. Upgrading Planning Analytics Workspace Local from version 2.0 to 2.1 follows the same process as updating from one 2.0 release to another.

There are several reasons why you should upgrade to 2.1; Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW) is built on a modern, web-based platform that IBM is continually investing in. You will be working with the latest technologies and have the latest security updates. PAW is designed to integrate with Cognos and by using Rest API, you can integrate with other reporting applications.

It’s important to know…

The following components will not be included or supported in Planning Analytics Local 2.1:

  • TM1 Architect
  • TM1 Perspectives
  • TM1 Applications
  • Performance Modeler
  • Scorecarding
  • Cognos Insight

As a result, all TM1 database modeling actions within version 2.1 are done in the Planning Analytics Workspace modeling workbench.

What you can expect when you upgrade:

Interactive Dashboards and Collaborative Planning

Monitor and evaluate your business performance using visually engaging, interactive dashboards. Easily customize them with intuitive drag-and-drop tools, dynamic charts, and graphs to uncover valuable insights.

Empower your team to actively participate in collaborative planning by allowing them to make their unique contributions, to share feedback, and to work together in real time. PAW offers a centralized platform that keeps everyone aligned and focused on shared objectives.

Interactive dashboards and collaborative planning can be achieved without installing additional applications or without having to create another layer of security. These capabilities are baked into PAW, allowing you to develop a seamless, integrated planning and reporting platform. Easily produce polished reports and presentations. Create detailed reports, export data, and share insights with stakeholders in multiple formats like PDF or Excel. Additionally, PAW provides the capability of creating workflow and guidance for your users via Applications and Plans.

Advanced Modeling and Forecasting

In addition to the modelling tools you used in Architect, you can utilize advanced algorithms and predictive analytics to model various scenarios, anticipate future outcomes, and drive smarter decisions.

While it may be difficult to move on from familiar tools like Architect and Perspectives, the new 2.1 version not only includes all their core features, but also introduces powerful enhancements that make the upgrade a rewarding step forward.
