Thrive March 2020 Release

Giving Administrators Power

The March 2020 release of Thrive is scheduled for March 17th and brings a host of exciting enhancements to our industry-leading Cognos Analytics management platform. This release delivers the most requested user features and gives administrators powerful tools to help manage schedules and jobs. Be sure to join us on March 19th at 12 PM CT on our YouTube Channel for a live Q&A about Thrive.

Schedules View

The schedules view visualizes the status of all upcoming and past schedules and jobs in a single place. You can easily tell which jobs have succeeded, failed or have an anomalous runtime – anything that is unusually long or short vs historical data. You can also drill in to see the status of individual job steps.

Schedules Issues

The issue tracker is one of our most popular features, and we’ve updated it with a whole new section focused on schedules and jobs. New issue types have been created for scheduled items that have failed or that have unusual runtimes vs historical data. The Thrive issue email notifications have also been updated to include schedule information – so you’ll be notified any time a Cognos schedule fails to execute.

User ID/Name customization

One common complaint about Cognos from an audit/admin perspective is that it often contains only the user IDs taken from the authentication provider rather than the full names of users. Thrive now allows you to easily replace cumbersome IDs with names by either uploading a CSV in the admin menu or by automatically populating a table in the staging database. This makes it easy to see who is doing what in any Cognos environment that relies on user IDs rather than names.

Last Updated Date in Reporting View

This change makes it easier to see not just when a report was last executed, but when the report spec itself was last updated. A new column has been included in the report view for easy sorting.

Tweaks and Bug Fixes

As with any release, there are numerous bug fixes and tweaks to Thrive Sync and the Thrive UI.

Conclusion

Thrive’s March 2020 release adds to its already detailed and data-driven feature set by making it possible for Cognos Administrators to utilize crucial tools to navigate through scheduling issues while also adding name customization, report spec update info, and a central hub for schedule information.
